Can fire trucks drive on grass pavers?
Yes. NDS EZ Roll grass pavers support H-20 and H-25 loads. In NDS testing, a filled EZ Roll paver carried an ultimate load of 400,000 lb. For fire truck loads, NDS recommends at least 8 inches of compacted #57 stone base and a maximum grade of 6%.
How many rolls does a 20 ft fire lane need?
Five EZ Roll rolls side by side (5 x 3.96 ft = 19.8 ft) make a 20 ft fire lane. Each 4' x 150' roll covers 601.6 sq ft, so a 20 ft wide lane uses five rolls for roughly every 150 ft of length.
Are grass pavers suitable for parking lots?
They suit overflow and event parking that is used occasionally. NDS notes grass surfaces are for emergency and occasional traffic. For lots used every day, EZ Roll gravel pavers give a permeable, plowable surface.
Do grass pavers need an underdrain?
It depends on the soil. NDS recommends an underdrain for poorly draining soils (NRCS hydrologic soil group C or D), treats it as optional for group B, and says it can be skipped for group A.
